The Debut family is one of the best-selling product lines in hi-fi history, with more than one million units sold worldwide. The Debut Carbon The Original returns to the formula that made it famous: a rigid, solid chassis, a precision belt drive with a clean DC/AC power generator, and a carbon tonearm that set a new standard for what an affordable turntable could do.

A Solid Foundation
Great vinyl playback starts with the plinth. The Debut Carbon The Original chassis is CNC-machined from rigid, high-density MDF and is completely solid inside with no hollow cavities. The result is clean, focused playback: tighter bass, a more open and detailed midrange, and a quieter background that lets the energy and dynamics of your records come through.
Precision Drive System
A heavy steel platter adds rotational mass so it spins smoothly and evens out small speed fluctuations. It sits on a light, rigid sub-platter made of glass-fibre-reinforced ABS, driven by a precision belt from an aluminium motor pulley machined to a tolerance of 1/1000mm. A TPE motor suspension decouples the motor from the plinth, and the main bearing uses a stainless steel axle and ball in a brass bushing, giving stable, accurate speed with low wow and flutter.
Sophisticated DC/AC Power Generator
The premium AC synchronous motor is driven by a precision DC/AC generator that converts the DC input into its own clean, precisely controlled AC signal. The motor runs independently of the quality of your mains supply, with constant speed, very low vibration and quiet operation.
Premium Carbon Fibre Tonearm
The 8.6" carbon fibre tonearm is mounted in a solid aluminium bearing assembly with a low-friction pin-point bearing for precise, stable tracking. The arm tube and headshell are made as one piece, preventing unwanted resonances and giving the cartridge a solid, direct connection. The TPE-damped counterweight reduces arm and cartridge resonances by up to 50%, and an adaptive anti-skating mechanism adjusts to the changing skating force across the record.
Pick it S2 MM Cartridge
Made by the cartridge specialists at Ortofon and tuned by Pro-Ject's own design team, the Pick it S2 MM has an elliptical stylus for detailed sound and a wide, open stereo image. Ortofon's split pole pins provide a flat frequency response comparable to moving coil cartridges, and a strong DJ-style cantilever makes it robust for everyday use.
The Perfect Connection
The included Connect it Phono E RCA cable is a high-quality, phono-optimised cable with copper conductors for lossless signal transmission. The Debut Carbon The Original can also be upgraded to True Balanced Connection when fitted with an MC cartridge or Pick it PRO Balanced and an Acryl it or PRO platter.
